February 7th -11th

We were so happy to get some outside time this week!

Let the games begin!
We read stories, learned about the Olympic mascot and even got to be Olympians in PE with Mrs. Mossor.

We practiced curling, skating, bobsledding and skiing!

Below is a fun interactive Olympic video that the children enjoyed!

In the classroom we worked together on Olympic puzzles.

We are working hard on our pre-writing skills.  There is a wide range of activities for 3 and 4 years old to develop their fine motor skills and writing skills.  These also help to improve shoulder and hand strength and the dexterity in small fingers. Below are some activities that we do in the classroom but could easily be done at home.
-Scrunching paper into balls
-Filling water in a glass using a dropper
-Sliding beads onto a plastic straw or cord
-Playing with playdough
-Practicing cutting with child scissors
-Tracing letters on sand or rice with their fingers
-Transferring objects using tweezers or tongs
-Belly crawl or walking like animals to arm to improve arm strength
-Lacing

Here we are practicing drawing horizontal lines, starting on the left side of the paper and continuing across to the right side.  The orientation of this line helps to prepare children from reading and writing left to right.
