January 31st - February 4th

Friendship

Nursery 3 is a time when children begin to learn how to be a friend and make friends. They are beginning to foster relationships, but are still developing friendship skills.  These friendship skills are sharing, taking turns, cooperating, listening and sorting out disagreements.  Children practice these skills through play with peers.  We have spent time this week role playing and discussing different ways to be a good friend.  Below are some of our ideas.

You can help your child foster friendship skills by having play dates with family or friends.  Talk with your child about who they play with at school and why they like playing with them.  Keep in mind children are navigating what is OK in a friendships and social groups.  Be willing to talk through friendship difficulties.
