We have been practicing hard for our Grandparents’ Day celebration on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.
On that day, you’re probably aware that your children will be singing two Christmas songs right before the start of the Christmas Show and Nativity. If you would like to see your children sing and watch the Pre-K, Kindergarten, and Lower School students perform that morning, feel free to attend. The show will take place in the school gym, beginning at 10:00 a.m. You may stay for just the Nursery students' songs or stay for the entire performance.
After the performance, the children and grandparents will go off to enjoy their lunch. We know that it’s a rare opportunity for them to share some special time together.
Please note that there will also be a performance of the Christmas Show and Nativity on Monday evening at 6:30. While your young ones will not be performing that night (given the late hour) all are welcomed to attend.
COMMUNITY TIME
During Community Time this week we made Christmas place mats with our families. The place mats were laminated and will be delivered Meals on Wheels.
OPERATION ADVENT
Throughout the Advent season,
Holy Child will be collecting materials
to support The Providence Center.
The Providence Center provides educational services
to the community in the Fairhill section of Philadelphia.
In the midst of the struggles that accompany such statistics,
The Providence Center offers the hard-working families of this neighborhood
education, love, and possibility.
Holy Child aims to help with that mission through Operation Advent.
Please help however you can by donating from the items on their wish list.
One of our biggest goals for the year is for the children to care
for their items independently. Many of the children have large
bedding or sleeping bags that they can not roll themselves or
put into their cubbies. A beach towel is all they need for rest
time. After the holidays please only send in a beach towel.
St. Nicholas paid us a visit!
In Religion, we have been learning about St. Nicholas and how
he shared his good fortune with others. On Thursday,
his feast day, we placed our shoes in the hallway in hopes
that he would visit us. Sure enough he did!
-Please read the reminder email that went out about Grandparents/Special Persons day. Let me know if you have any questions.
-Our Christmas break begins on December 20th. Classes will resume January 3rd.
-Our school day begins at 8:00 am, please have your child arrive on time. Late arrivals are disruptive to both the child and the classroom.
