October 5th - October 9th

This week we learned about the letter M and the sound that the letter M makes.

M is for Mouse!

We made a letter Mm word wall. Can you find M words in your house?

We love to learn letters and their sounds through songs by Jack Hartman.  The children call him "our friend Jack".
You can listen along with your child here:

This alphabet songs help us to learn letter recognition for the letter M.  The super-catchy and clear alphabet song also allows the children to hear the M sound.

To learn the feel of the letter M, we drove cars on the M highway!

October is fire prevention month.  Tuesday was National Junior Firefighter Day. To celebrate, we participated in Junior Fire Marshall training (virtually) through the Hartford, CT fire department. We learned life-saving fire safety lessons.  The children's certificate of completion and some family fire safety activities are in their folders.

  1. There is no school on Monday, October 12
  2. Virtual parent/teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, October 22 and Friday, October 23. (More information to follow)
  3. There is no school on Friday, October 23.
  4. Children should have regular sized backpacks in order to fit their folders, lunchboxes and rest towel.  The smaller backpacks are difficult for the children to pack and unpack.

Happy Summer!
